Thousands March in Delhi Over Exam Leak Allegations, Demand Minister's Resignation

New Delhi : Tens of thousands of protesters marched towards Parliament in New Delhi on Monday, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and stronger action against alleged corruption and exam paper leaks.

The demonstration, organised by the youth-led Cockroach movement, coincided with the opening day of Parliament's monsoon session. Police used tear gas and baton charges to disperse sections of the crowd after protesters attempted to continue their march despite security restrictions.

The protest gained momentum following the hospitalisation of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike in support of the movement. Organisers also alleged that movement founder Abhijeet Dipke was detained by police during the demonstrations.

The movement emerged after widespread outrage over alleged irregularities in India's competitive examinations, including the cancellation and re-conduct of the national medical entrance test following a question paper leak. Protesters say repeated exam controversies have undermined opportunities for millions of students and are calling for greater transparency and accountability in the education system.
