Oscar-Winning Actress Brenda Fricker Dies at 81

Dublin: Irish actress Brenda Fricker, best known for her Oscar-winning performance in My Left Foot and her role as the Pigeon Lady in Home Alone 2, has died at the age of 81 after a period of ill health.
Fricker made history as the first Irish actress to win an Academy Award, taking home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for playing the mother of artist Christy Brown in My Left Foot.
She later became a familiar face to audiences worldwide as the mysterious Pigeon Lady who befriends Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Her career spanned six decades and included more than 90 film and television roles.
