'Jurassic Park' star Sam Neill dies at 78, family announces

Sydney: Sam Neill, 78, a New Zealand actor best known for his famous portrayal as Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park movie, died on Monday, his family announced. He died unexpectedly in Sydney, surrounded by his family.

In a statement posted on Neill's social media, his family described his death as "sudden and unexpected" and stated that he had been cancer-free following treatment for stage-three blood cancer. No cause of death was revealed.

Neill had an acting career spanning more than five decades, earning global acclaim for films including Jurassic Park, The Piano, The Hunt for Red October, Event Horizon, and the television series Peaky Blinders.
