Dubai Municipality Warns Of Dh500 Abandoned Vehicle Fine

ABU DHABI: Dubai Municipality has issued an urgent warning to residents, announcing a Dh500 fine for vehicles left abandoned in public spaces during the summer season. This initiative encourages residents to properly secure their cars before traveling for the holidays to avoid financial penalties and towing costs.

Officials stress that leaving vehicles without maintenance or supervision for prolonged periods negatively affects Dubai’s urban landscape. They emphasise that preserving the emirate's clean and orderly appearance is a shared responsibility that relies heavily on public awareness and proactive compliance.

Inspection teams are actively identifying neglected cars in public car parks, roads, and sandy areas year-round. When a vehicle is flagged, owners receive a formal 3 to 15-day warning via SMS from the Roads and Transport Authority before any removal action is taken.

If the vehicle remains unmoved after the warning period expires, it is towed to the Al Awir impound yard. Owners then face the initial Dh500 fine, in addition to variable towing and storage fees.

To avoid these complications, authorities strongly recommend using protective covers, arranging regular maintenance, and parking in designated, secure locations.
