Death Toll Climbs to 39 After Tropical Storm Maysak Floods

Nanning, China: The death toll from flooding caused by Tropical Storm Maysak in southern China has risen to 39 after record rainfall triggered widespread devastation, authorities said on Thursday.
Most of the deaths were reported in the city of Nanning, where a breached dam claimed 26 lives. Torrential rain also caused reservoirs to overflow, flooding communities and leaving many people stranded for days.
Rescue teams used drones and thousands of boats to reach affected areas and evacuate residents trapped by rising waters. Authorities said about 130,000 people have been moved to safer locations as relief operations continue.
Officials are assessing the full extent of the damage as floodwaters begin to recede in parts of the region.
