Türkiye and Pakistan Aim for $5 Billion Trade Target

During an official visit to Türkiye, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Vahdettin Palace in Istanbul.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with senior ministers and officials from both Pakistan and Türkiye.
During their warm and cordial exchange, both leaders reaffirmed the historic and brotherly relations between the two countries and expressed satisfaction over the continued positive momentum in bilateral ties.
The two sides held detailed discussions covering a wide range of areas of cooperation. They agreed to further strengthen collaboration, particularly in trade and investment, energy cooperation, offshore and onshore petroleum exploration, minerals and mining, and the information technology sector.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to achieving the mutually agreed bilateral trade target of 5 billion US dollars.
They also exchanged views on key regional and global developments. President Erdoğan appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, which led to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in turn, thanked President Erdoğan for Türkiye’s consistent support for Pakistan’s peace initiatives.
The leaders emphasized the importance of close coordination between Islamabad and Ankara during peace processes and stressed the need for sustained efforts to ensure long-term stability and peace in the region.
Reaffirming their longstanding partnership, both sides reiterated their steadfast support for each other on core national issues.
