UAE and Chile Eye Stronger Investment

The United Arab Emirates and Chile have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties during a high-level visit by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, to Santiago.
Dr. Al Zeyoudi was received by Chilean President José Antonio Kast at the Presidential Palace in the presence of Mohammed Al Neyadi, UAE Ambassador to Chile.
During the meeting, Al Zeyoudi conveyed the greetings and congratulations of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, on President Kast's assumption of office. The UAE leadership also extended their best wishes for Chile's continued progress and prosperity.
President Kast welcomed the UAE delegation and asked that his greetings be conveyed to the UAE leadership. He expressed appreciation for the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries and reaffirmed Chile's commitment to expanding cooperation, particularly in trade and investment.
The Chilean president also praised the UAE's role in promoting global peace, tolerance and coexistence, highlighting its emphasis on dialogue, international cooperation and partnership-building as a model for enhancing global security and stability. He further commended the UAE's efforts to foster understanding among nations and support initiatives promoting peace and sustainable development.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest, particularly trade and investment, reflecting the growing strategic partnership between the UAE and Chile. Both sides underscored the importance of building on the positive momentum in bilateral economic relations and expanding opportunities that benefit both nations.
As part of the UAE Trade Days initiative, Al Zeyoudi led a high-level Emirati delegation comprising senior government officials, business leaders and representatives of leading UAE companies.
The delegation held meetings with several senior Chilean officials and private sector representatives, including Minister of Public Security Martín Arrau, Minister of Energy Ximena Rincón, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Patricio Torres Espinosa, Undersecretary for International Economic Relations Paula Estevez, Undersecretary of Mines Alvaro González Gorroño, Vice President of the Confederation of Chilean Industries Rodrigo Yáñez, Director of the Brotcelli Authority Ignacio Fernández, and Director of the Chilean Investment Promotion Authority Juan Pablo Candia.
The meetings explored opportunities to strengthen trade and investment cooperation in priority sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, technology, mining and infrastructure. Discussions also highlighted the UAE's commitment to empowering the private sector as a key driver of joint economic growth and sustainable development.
The visit also included a business roundtable that brought together investors and business leaders from both countries to discuss new trade and investment opportunities, strengthen private-sector partnerships, increase investment flows and boost bilateral trade.
Al Zeyoudi reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with Chile in support of the sustainable development goals of both countries. He noted that the UAE–Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) provides a strong foundation for expanding economic cooperation and creating new opportunities for businesses and investors in both nations.
