Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs Over European Tech Taxes

Washington: US President Donald Trump has threatened to put a 100% tariff on imports from any country that implements a Digital Services Tax (DST) aimed at American technology companies, including several European nations.
Trump stated that the new tariff would overrule existing or future trade agreements, and warned that countries who imposed such duties would face immediate trade consequences. The decision comes amid rising tensions with the European Union, where countries such as France have already imposed digital taxes on giant tech companies, and others are mulling similar measures.
The European Commission denounced the threat as unjustified and stated that if the United States follows through, it will respond severely. Washington has long claimed that digital service tariffs unfairly target American tech giants like Meta, Google, Amazon, and Apple.
