Muscatine, Iowa : Six people were killed in a series of shootings across the Iowa city of Muscatine in what authorities believe was a domestic-related incident involving family members.
Police said the suspected gunman, 52-year-old Ryan Willis McFarland, was later found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound on a riverfront trail and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers first responded to a home where four victims were found dead. As the investigation expanded, police discovered two more victims at separate locations, including a residence and a business.
Authorities believe all six victims were relatives of the suspect. Police described the killings as stemming from a family dispute, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Muscatine Police Chief Anthony Kies called the shootings an “act of evil” and said further details about the victims have not yet been released.
