Manila: The Philippines and Vietnam have officially renewed their 2010 defence cooperation agreement, boosting maritime security and regional stability. This defence renewal underscores a shared commitment to protecting freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea.

As prominent claimant nations facing shifting geopolitical dynamics, Manila and Hanoi are elevating their security cooperation. The framework establishes pathways for regular high-level defence dialogues and real-time information sharing.

Beyond maritime defense, the partnership expands law enforcement cooperation to tackle evolving cross-border challenges. Both countries will jointly combat transnational crime syndicates responsible for cyber scams, human trafficking, and illegal migration.

Furthermore, Vietnam pledged to prevent its territory from being used for subversive acts against the Philippines. Both nations reaffirmed that all territorial disputes must be resolved peacefully, adhering strictly to international law to maintain a stable, rule-based regional order.
