Pakistan FM arrives in New York for UN Security Council visit
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has arrived in New York for an official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic engagement at the United Nations and participating in a key Security Council debate.
The visit, scheduled from 26 to 28 May, will see the senior Pakistani diplomat take part in a high-level UN Security Council Open Debate focused on “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-centred International System.” The session is being convened under China’s presidency of the Council.
During his stay, Senator Dar is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts as well as senior United Nations officials. Discussions are anticipated to cover global security challenges and multilateral cooperation.
Upon his arrival in New York, he was received by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, along with the Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamer Ahmad Atozai.
The visit comes as Pakistan continues to engage actively in multilateral forums on issues related to international peace, security, and the strengthening of the UN system.
