DOHA: The governor of the Central Bank of Iran has arrived in Qatar for unannounced talks focused on accelerating the release of frozen Iranian financial assets.

According to sources briefed on the visit, Mohammad Reza Farzin met with top Qatari financial and diplomatic officials in Doha to discuss banking cooperation and bilateral funds.

The high-level discussions come amid ongoing international diplomatic efforts to unblock billions of dollars in Iranian funds frozen in foreign bank accounts due to international sanctions.

Qatar has previously served as a key diplomatic mediator in financial and prisoner-swap negotiations between Iran and Western nations.

While specific details of the monetary agreements remain confidential, officials noted that the meetings aimed to streamline banking channels between the two neighboring countries.

The Central Bank of Iran is looking to leverage Qatar’s financial network to facilitate the transfer of these substantial funds for humanitarian trade.
