War on Iran inflicts a $25bn and rising toll on global corporate giants

Washington DC:The US-Israeli war on Iran has cost companies around the world at least $25 billion, with the bill continuing to climb as global business networks suffer immense disruption.

A comprehensive review of corporate statements across the United States, Europe, and Asia reveals that at least 279 multinational firms have been severely impacted by skyrocketing energy costs and fractured supply chains.

The financial damage is heavily driven by Iran's maritime chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, which has pushed crude oil prices past $100 a barrel and choked the global supply of essential inputs like aluminum, helium, and fertilizers. Whirlpool CEO Marc Bitzer warned that the current industry slowdown mirrors the consumer anxieties seen during the 2008 global financial crisis.

The financial fallout is heavily concentrated among transportation and manufacturing giants. Global airlines have absorbed the heaviest blow, accounting for nearly $15 billion of the total losses due to doubling jet fuel prices.

Meanwhile, Japan's Toyota reported a staggering $4.3 billion hit to its operations, and consumer giant Procter & Gamble estimated a post-tax profit loss of $1 billion. With no resolution in sight, analysts warn that rising costs will continue to severely erode global corporate profit margins.
