MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin will undertake a two-day state visit to China from May 19–20 at the official invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Kremlin confirmed Saturday. The major diplomatic move comes immediately after US President Donald Trump concluded a high-profile three-day summit in Beijing, setting up an intense window of global diplomacy for China.
During the high-stakes talks, Putin and Xi are scheduled to discuss expanding their comprehensive strategic partnership and trade cooperation. The leaders will exchange views on pressing international challenges, including regional security and global energy markets.
Amid heavy ongoing Western economic sanctions, Moscow’s reliance on Beijing as its premier economic ally continues to deepen. The high-level visit is expected to culminate in the signing of a crucial joint declaration to further cement bilateral ties.
