US Sends Witkoff, Kushner to Pakistan for Iran Talks

The Trump administration is set to send special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan this weekend for a second round of discussions with Iranian representatives, according to the White House.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Friday that the two officials would depart on Saturday for Islamabad, where they are expected to hold indirect and direct talks facilitated by Pakistani mediators.

“I can confirm special envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner will be off to Pakistan again tomorrow morning to engage in talks, direct talks, intermediated by the Pakistanis, who have been incredible friends and mediators throughout this entire process, with representatives from the Iranian delegation,” Leavitt told Fox News.

She added that the Iranian side had requested the in-person meeting in Islamabad, marking a continuation of ongoing diplomatic engagement involving both countries.

Leavitt expressed cautious optimism about the outcome of the talks, saying the administration hopes the discussions will be “productive” and help advance progress toward a potential agreement.

“We’re hopeful that it will be a productive conversation and hopefully move the ball forward towards a deal,” she said.

The upcoming meeting follows earlier rounds of discussions as part of broader efforts to ease tensions and explore diplomatic pathways involving Washington and Tehran, with Pakistan acting as a facilitator in the process.
