Trump says US Navy to enforce blockade on Iran at Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the United States Navy will begin enforcing a blockade on Iran by controlling the movement of vessels entering and exiting the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the US Navy, which he described as “the best in the world,” would immediately begin stopping and inspecting any ships attempting to pass through the strategic waterway.

He added that at some point, the situation would move toward allowing free passage in both directions, but accused Iran of preventing this by raising security concerns.

Trump claimed Iran had suggested there could be mines in the area that “no one knows about except them,” which he said was being used as justification for restricting safe navigation through the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes, linking Gulf producers to global markets, and any disruption there is closely watched for its potential global economic impact.
