Arabian Gulf University, GCC Statistical Center Sign MoU to Boost Regional Data and Research Cooperation

Muscat: A new step toward strengthening regional data and research cooperation was marked in Muscat, Oman, where the Arabian Gulf University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the GCC Statistical Center.
The agreement aims to deepen collaboration in statistical research, capacity building, and knowledge exchange, focusing on developing skilled national talents and enhancing the quality and reliability of statistical data across Gulf Cooperation Council states.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate to develop joint training programmes, workshops, and research initiatives designed to strengthen expertise in data analysis and statistical methodologies. The partnership will also support the exchange of statistical reports and information to enhance academic research and policy development.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fahid, President of Arabian Gulf University, said the collaboration reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to building strong regional partnerships that enhance academic excellence and prepare Gulf professionals with advanced research and analytical skills.
He added that such initiatives are essential to keeping pace with global developments and supporting sustainable economic growth in the region.
On her part, Intisar bint Abdullah Al Wahibiyah, Director-General of the GCC Statistical Center, highlighted that the agreement aligns with the Centre’s strategy to expand strategic partnerships with academic institutions. She noted that integrating statistical expertise with academic research plays a vital role in strengthening the foundations of a knowledge-based economy in the Gulf.
She further emphasized that cooperation with Arabian Gulf University will help broaden research opportunities, develop Gulf talent, and improve the use of data in specialized studies that support evidence-based policymaking.
