Over 1,460 killed in Lebanon since March 2 amid ongoing Israeli attacks.
Over 1,460 people have been killed in Lebanon since March 2 amid ongoing Israeli military operations, according to the country’s Health Ministry, as cross-border tensions continue to escalate in the region.
The Health Ministry reported that the total death toll has reached 1,461, with 4,430 others injured over the same period. In the latest 24-hour reporting window alone, 39 people were killed, and 136 were wounded, highlighting the continued intensity of the conflict.
Among the casualties, the ministry stated that 129 children and 97 women have lost their lives since the escalation began. It also noted significant losses among emergency responders and medical personnel, with at least 54 health care workers killed and 145 injured while carrying out their duties.
The escalation follows ongoing exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah, which have been firing rockets into Israel in response to continued Israeli strikes. Israel, in turn, has carried out airstrikes and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect in November 2024.
The situation further intensified following earlier regional developments, including heightened tensions linked to incidents involving Iranian leadership, such as the reported killing of Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on February 28, which contributed to the broader regional instability.
As hostilities persist, the humanitarian toll continues to rise, with civilian infrastructure and healthcare systems under increasing pressure amid ongoing military activity on both sides of the border.
