KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian government has confirmed that several of its vessels have successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz without paying any fees to Iran. Communications Minister and government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil addressed the situation during a press conference, dismissing online speculation regarding potential payments. "We are not paying any tolls, despite what some netizens may have misunderstood. No payments are being made," he stated.
According to Malaysia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Iran has granted clearance for seven Malaysian tankers to pass through the Strait. The waterway has recently become a primary flashpoint in the ongoing Middle East conflict, leading to increased scrutiny over maritime movements in the region.
