Beijing: China has called on all parties involved in the ongoing U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran to immediately halt military operations, warning that continued escalation could push the region into chaos.
Speaking at a press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stressed the need to return to dialogue and negotiations, particularly as tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz continue to disrupt regional stability.
“Should hostilities continue to escalate and the situation deteriorate further, the entire region will be plunged into chaos,” he said, responding to a question regarding pressure from Donald Trump on Iran to reopen the critical shipping route.
Lin warned that the use of force would only deepen the crisis. “The use of force will only lead to a vicious cycle,” he said, adding that the conflict should not have begun in the first place.
China’s remarks come amid growing international concern over the potential impact of the conflict on global energy supplies and maritime security, as the Strait of Hormuz remains a vital route for a significant share of the world’s oil shipments.
Beijing reiterated its position that diplomatic engagement remains the only viable path to resolving the crisis and ensuring long-term stability in the region.
