Dubai: In a symbolic move to recognise the vital role of mothers in society, HRH Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has directed authorities to replace the title ‘housewife’ with ‘Generation Shaper’.
The announcement, made on the occasion of Mother’s Day, reflects a broader effort to acknowledge the influence of mothers in shaping families and building strong communities. The directive has been issued to the Community Development Authority for implementation.
In a statement, Shaikh Hamdan highlighted the foundational role mothers play in raising future generations. “Mothers are the first school for their children, the place where they learn belonging, responsibility and the values that shape strong nations,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to mothers, adding, “To all our mothers… Thank you. You are the foundation of everything good. Happy Mother’s Day.”
The move has been widely seen as a recognition of the often-unseen contributions of mothers, reinforcing their role as key contributors to social development and national progress.
