Iran’s Natanz Facility Hit in Latest Strike, No Radiation Leak Reported

Tehran: The United States and Israel launched a fresh strike on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility on Saturday morning, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.

Authorities said there were no radioactive leaks following the attack, adding that nearby residents were not at risk.

Natanz, a key component of Iran’s nuclear programme, had previously been targeted alongside facilities in Fordow nuclear facility and Isfahan nuclear facility during earlier US strikes in June.

The latest strike comes as the conflict, triggered by US-Israeli attacks on February 28, enters its 22nd day, with escalating violence disrupting the Gulf region and global energy markets.

Tensions intensified this week after Israel targeted Iran’s South Pars gas field, prompting retaliatory strikes by Tehran, including an attack on Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, home to one of the world’s largest LNG facilities.

The Natanz site, much of which is built underground, houses thousands of centrifuges used for uranium enrichment and has long been central to Iran’s nuclear activities.

The ongoing conflict has significantly reduced international oversight, with inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency curtailed following earlier strikes.

US President Donald Trump has previously described attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure as a ‘spectacular military success,’ warning of further action if tensions continue.

The situation remains volatile, with fears of broader regional escalation and continued disruption to global energy supplies.
