‘Bomb’ Note on Tissue Forces Air India Emergency Landing
An Air India Express flight travelling from Dammam in Saudi Arabia to New Delhi made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Monday after a crew member discovered a tissue paper bearing the word “bomb” inside the aircraft’s lavatory.
The discovery prompted the crew to alert the pilot, who contacted air traffic control and requested an emergency diversion to Ahmedabad as a precaution.
The aircraft landed safely and was moved to an isolated area, where security agencies carried out detailed checks. All 32 passengers were safely deboarded and accommodated at Terminal 2.
Air India Express said the government-appointed Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was alerted immediately and all required security procedures were initiated.
Initial searches reportedly found no explosive or suspicious material on the aircraft. Authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the threat and the circumstances surrounding the note.
