Flights at Dubai International Airport were temporarily suspended.
The United Arab Emirates’ air defence systems intercepted a wave of Iranian drones and missiles, the Emirati Ministry of Defence confirmed, as regional tensions continued to escalate.
According to officials, Iran has launched more than 1,800 missiles and drones toward the UAE since the outbreak of the regional conflict, making it the country most heavily targeted by Tehran in the ongoing Middle East war. Despite the large number of projectiles, the majority have been successfully intercepted by the UAE’s air defence systems.
In the latest incident, a projectile struck a fuel tank near Dubai International Airport, the Dubai Media Office said. Authorities confirmed that the resulting fire was quickly contained and no injuries were reported.
As a precautionary measure, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announced the temporary suspension of flights at the airport to ensure the safety of passengers and aviation staff.
Officials stated that the situation is under control and emergency teams responded swiftly to secure the area.
