Pentagon Expects Iran Conflict to Last Beyond 100 Days: Reports

The United States and Israel initially indicated that their military campaign against Iran, launched on Saturday, would last only weeks, recent reports suggest the conflict could continue for several months. According to the political news outlet Politico, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) now expects the operations to extend beyond 100 days, potentially lasting until September. The Pentagon has already begun mobilizing additional military intelligence personnel to support joint operations with Israel.
A notice obtained by the American newspaper revealed that the US Central Command requested the Pentagon to send more intelligence officers to its headquarters in Tampa, Florida. These officers are expected to assist air operations for a minimum of 100 days, and possibly through September. This marks the first known request for additional intelligence support in the Iran campaign, signaling that the Pentagon is preparing for a longer conflict than the initial four-week timeline set by President Donald Trump.
The rapid deployment of additional personnel and resources highlights that the administration may not have anticipated the immediate and far-reaching consequences of the operation, which on its first day resulted in the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior officials.
