Indian Nationals in Iran Advised to Leave Amid Evolving Situation

The Government of India has reiterated its advisory for all Indian nationals currently in Iran to exercise caution and consider leaving the country due to the evolving situation.

The advisory, first issued on 5 January 2026 and reiterated on 14 January 2026, applies to students, pilgrims, business persons, and tourists. Indian citizens are urged to leave Iran using all available means, including commercial flights.

Safety Precautions for Indians in Iran
All Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) are advised to:

• Avoid areas with protests or demonstrations.

• Stay in regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.

• Monitor local media for developments.

Travel and Documentation
Indians in Iran are requested to keep all travel and immigration documents, including passports and IDs, readily available. The Indian Embassy in Tehran is available to provide assistance if required.
