Dubai to Launch School Bus Pooling to Cut Traffic and Costs

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will roll out a new school bus poolingservicewithin the next two weeks, starting with a pilot in Al Barsha. The goal is to reduce traffic during peak hours, shorten travel times and offer parents a more affordable option.

The initiative is being launched by the RTA in partnership with Yango Group, a ride-hailing technology company and Urban Express, a smart transport services provider.

The service will function much like an e-hailing app:

·       Students from the same neighbourhood will share one bus

·       Children going to different nearby schools can ride together

·       Routes will be planned using data to save time and reduce congestion

This will lead to fewer private cars on the road, faster and more efficient school runs, lower transport costs for families and supports greener, shared mobility.

The RTA says all existing school transport safety rules will be strictly followed to ensure student safety and security.

The pilot launches in Al Barsha within two weeks. If successful, the service will be expanded across Dubai.
