Kremlin Denies Plans for Ukraine-US-Russia Talks Amid Ongoing Conflict

Manama – The Kremlin has denied reports of potential three-way talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, as diplomats met in Miami to discuss ways to end the ongoing conflict.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the United States had suggested a trilateral meeting, which would have been the first direct talks between Kyiv and Moscow in six months. However, he expressed doubts that the talks would bring significant progress.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, told reporters that the initiative had not been formally discussed and was not being prepared.

Zelensky, speaking on Saturday, said he was “not sure that anything new could come of it” and called on the US to increase pressure on Russia to end the war.

On Sunday, he offered a slightly more positive update, noting that talks between US, European, and Ukrainian negotiators were progressing “at a fairly rapid pace,” while emphasizing that much depended on whether Russia genuinely wanted to end the conflict.

He also warned that Russia’s actions on the ground remained hostile, including attacks along the frontline, alleged war crimes in border areas, and continued strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.
