Dubai Under Heavy Rainfall Warning: Residents Urged to Stay Indoors

Dubai: Dubai police issued an urgent appeal to residents on Thursday to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary, as the city braces for intense rainfall expected to last until Friday midday. The warning follows street flooding in Dubai earlier this week, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting heavy downpours across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi. Neighbouring Gulf states, such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, also faced severe weather, forcing the cancellation of a third-place Arab Cup match between the UAE and Green Falcons.

This comes after the UAE experienced its heaviest rainfall in 76 years last April, which caused widespread flooding, claimed four lives, and submerged homes and infrastructure. Authorities emphasize caution: avoid flood-prone areas, beaches, and valleys. Emergency contacts: 999 for life-threatening situations, 901 for non-emergencies.
