Jordan’s King Abdullah Warns Against ‘Enforcing’ Peace in Gaza Under Trump Ceasefire Plan
Jordan’s King Abdullah II has warned that no country would agree to “enforce” peace in Gaza under the Trump administration’s ceasefire plan, stressing that any role must focus on peacekeeping, not military enforcement.
Speaking to BBC Panorama, King Abdullah said, “If it’s peace enforcing, nobody will want to touch that.” He explained that Jordan and Egypt are willing to train Palestinian security forces but ruled out sending troops into Gaza, citing Jordan’s close political ties and large Palestinian population.
Queen Rania, in a separate interview, criticized the international community for failing to stop the two-year conflict, while praising President Trump for applying real pressure on Israel to secure a ceasefire.
King Abdullah also highlighted Jordan’s humanitarian role, including aid missions and evacuations of Palestinian children, saying the destruction in Gaza was “shocking.” He urged renewed global efforts for a lasting peace, warning, “If we don’t find a future for Israelis and Palestinians, we’re doomed.”
