France’s newly reappointed Prime Minister, Sebastien Lecornu, has pledged to form a government “not imprisoned by political parties” as he seeks to navigate the country through what he described as a “painful” political crisis.
Speaking on Saturday, Lecornu said his priority was to bring stability and unity to France’s divided political landscape. “I will do my duty, and I will not be a problem,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to cooperation and responsibility.
His remarks came just a day after President Emmanuel Macron reinstated him as Prime Minister — only four days after Lecornu had tendered his resignation.
The swift reinstatement reflects Macron’s attempt to restore order following a turbulent week in French politics, marked by resignations and intense party disputes. Lecornu’s new government is expected to be shaped by consensus, focusing on national interest rather than partisan divides.
