Rotax MAX Returns: Macau Gears Up for 2026 Showdown
The adrenaline-fueled world of karting is gearing up for a spectacular start to the New Year as BRP-Rotax officially announces that the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy (RMCIT) Asia 2026 will take place at the Coloane Kart Circuit in Macau from January 23 to 25, 2026.
The event promises high-octane competition as champions from five Rotax categories — Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX, DD2, and DD2 Masters — will earn some of the very first tickets to the prestigious Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) 2026.
A Rising Star in Asian Karting
The announcement marks another milestone for the Rotax brand in Asia, following the success of the RMC Asia Festival in Malaysia (2022) and the RMCIT 2025 in Thailand’s BIRA Circuit. This upcoming edition will feature seven Rotax classes, from the youngest Micro MAX racers to seasoned MAX Masters, offering winners additional entries into future RMC Asia Trophy series events.
Fifteen years after the Macau International Kart Grand Prix hosted Rotax Junior and Senior MAX races — where four-time RMCGF Champion Ben Cooper took a podium finish in the open CIK-FIA class — the spirit of elite karting returns stronger than ever. This time, the track will welcome a full grid of international drivers battling for glory and a chance to represent their nations at the world’s premier karting stage.
Macau’s Legendary Circuit
The Coloane Kart Circuit, a 1.2-kilometre-long track running clockwise, is Macau’s only permanent karting venue. Known for its technical corners and challenging layout, the circuit is a favorite among top-tier racers. Its cool January weather and well-equipped facilities make it an ideal stage for the RMCIT 2026 showdown.
Macau’s motorsport legacy runs deep — dating back to its first karting race in 1965 and the renowned Macau Grand Prix, which has thrilled fans for over 70 years with Formula 3, GT, Touring Cars, and Motorcycle GP races.
A Global Stage with Local Charm
Located just 60 kilometres west of Hong Kong, Macau is a quick trip across the world’s longest sea bridge. Beyond the racetrack, visitors can explore the UNESCO-listed Historic Centre of Macau, where Portuguese and Chinese cultures blend seamlessly. From world-class dining to glittering nightlife, the city offers a thrilling mix of tradition and modern excitement.
“We Cannot Wait to Welcome Everyone!”
Orawat Tantivejkul, Managing Director of Moment Media Thailand, expressed excitement over hosting the first-ever RMC event in Macau.
“We are honoured and thankful to the Macau ASN, the AAMC, for making this possible,” Tantivejkul said. “Our gratitude also goes to Mr. Philip Soh, BRP-Rotax, and all Rotax distributors across Asia-Pacific — from Japan to Australia — for their incredible support. Preparations are in full swing, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone to Macau for this special event.”
With world-class racers, a historic venue, and the allure of Macau’s vibrant culture, the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy Asia 2026 is set to kick off the racing season in unforgettable fashion.
