Ukraine Backs Trilateral Talks with U.S. and Russia to Advance Peace

Ukraine has expressed strong support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to hold a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, signaling a new step toward advancing dialogue aimed at ending the ongoing war.

In a statement following a lengthy conversation with President Trump, Ukrainian leaders emphasized their readiness to work tirelessly to achieve peace while ensuring that any process involves broad international engagement.

“We had a long and substantive conversation with President Trump. We began with one-on-one talks before inviting European leaders to join us. The call lasted for more than an hour and a half, including nearly an hour of bilateral discussion with the President,” the statement read.

President Trump reportedly briefed Ukraine on his recent meeting with Russian leadership and outlined the main points of their discussion. Ukrainian officials stressed that America’s influence could play a decisive role in shaping developments on the ground.

“We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the USA, and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and a trilateral format is suitable for this,” the statement continued.

Ukrainian officials also confirmed that a high-level meeting between President Trump and Ukraine’s president will take place in Washington, D.C., on Monday to review concrete steps toward ending the conflict and halting civilian casualties.

The statement underscored Ukraine’s insistence that European partners remain deeply involved at every stage of the process, not only to ensure reliable security guarantees but also to maintain a united front with the United States.

“It is important that Europeans are involved at every stage to ensure reliable security guarantees together with America. We also discussed positive signals from the American side regarding participation in guaranteeing Ukraine’s security. We continue to coordinate our positions with all partners. I thank everyone who is helping,” the statement concluded.

The latest developments reflect Ukraine’s growing push for a diplomatic resolution, backed by both U.S. engagement and European security commitments.
