21 Children Die from Starvation as EU Urges Israel to Halt Civilian Deaths at Aid Points
A hospital in Gaza has reported the deaths of 21 children from malnutrition and starvation within just 72 hours, underscoring the deepening humanitarian crisis in the war-torn region.
As desperation grows, international pressure is mounting. On Tuesday, European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said she had a frank conversation with Israeli Minister Gideon Saar, urging Israel to stop deadly attacks on civilians trying to receive aid.
“The killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible,” Kallas wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I spoke again with Gideon Saar to recall our understanding on aid flow and made clear that the IDF must stop killing people at distribution points.”
The comments come amid widespread reports of fatal shootings near food and aid convoys in Gaza, where families are risking their lives just to get basic necessities.
Human rights organizations and medical groups have repeatedly warned of famine-like conditions in the strip, as blockades, ongoing military operations, and lack of access continue to cripple aid efforts.
Calls for a ceasefire and a safe humanitarian corridor are growing louder, with the international community increasingly alarmed by the spiraling toll on innocent lives — especially children.
