Apple's new Macs turn up the AI power

Apple has released its latest Mac mini and Mac Studio, putting a stronger emphasis on on-device artificial intelligence and professional computing. Both desktops are now available, following their September 22 launch.
The new Mac mini is powered by Apple's M6 or M6 Pro chips. With the M6, Apple claims up to 4x faster AI performance, 40% faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster graphics compared with the previous generation. The compact desktop starts at $899 in the US.
The more powerful Mac Studio comes with the M5 Max or new M5 Ultra. The Ultra version supports up to 512GB of unified memory, while Apple claims up to 4.8x faster AI performance and 1.8x faster graphics. It also supports Thunderbolt 5 for high-speed external storage and professional workflows.
Apple is positioning both machines as powerful platforms for local AI, allowing demanding AI workloads to run directly on the computer rather than relying entirely on cloud servers.
The Mac mini starts at $899, while the Mac Studio starts at $2,499 for the M5 Max and $5,499 for the M5 Ultra.
