Honeywell, Abu Dhabi Aviation Team Up for Faster Helicopter Repairs
Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) and Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) have signed a multi-year agreement aimed at streamlining maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for AW139 helicopters. The partnership will focus on Honeywell’s Primus Epic integrated avionics system and related components, providing local repair support to AW139 operators in the UAE and enhancing fleet readiness for both military and civil aviation customers.
Previously, helicopter components had to be sent directly to Honeywell facilities for repair. Under the new agreement, ADA will manage the end-to-end MRO logistics process — from selecting the appropriate Honeywell repair facility to shipping, tracking, and completing repairs. The collaboration is expected to reduce complexity, speed up the repair process, and maintain Honeywell’s global quality standards.
Mike Vallillo, Vice President of Defense and Space International at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, commented: “This agreement highlights the strength of our collaboration with Abu Dhabi Aviation and reinforces our commitment to advancing aviation in the region. By simplifying the repair process, we are helping UAE-based customers get critical systems back in operation faster.”
The AW139 helicopter is widely used across the Middle East and Africa in military operations, civil aviation, and the oil and gas sector. The enhanced MRO logistics model will support higher fleet availability for these critical operations.
The agreement, set to run until 2029, builds on over a decade of collaboration between Honeywell and ADA, aiming to further expand MRO capabilities across the Middle East and Africa.
