Littler’s limitless potential showcased in historic Bahrain win

Teenage darts sensation and newly crowned Bahrain Darts Masters champion Luke Littler says he had no expectations coming to the Kingdom and playing in his first-ever PDC World Series of Darts event.

Littler, who turns 17 today, continued his amazing rise in global darts over the weekend with a stunning performance at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), which included capturing the coveted title, defeating two former world champions and a World Matchplay winner in the process, and hitting a stunning and rare nine-darter.

He also became the youngest player to win a Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) televised title, and was only the second to ever land a nine-darter on the world series stage.

All these just weeks after finishing as runner-up in the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship held earlier this month—while not competing in any other tournaments before Bahrain.

“I’ve not picked a dart up since the world championship, so I was not expecting anything,” said the Englishman after his sensational victory Friday night.

“I just came over to Bahrain thinking to win my first-round game and see who I will be playing in the next round; but I’ve won all my games and I’ve gotten over the line against a very good Michael van Gerwen [in the final].

“I’ve proven I’ve got the ability to win tonight, and I’m happy to win it.” Littler is now looking forward to maintaining his fine form at the highest level of international darts and continuing to make history. “I can’t wait to play in everything,” he said.

“I’ve not set any goals, and I don’t want to. I take every competition as it comes, game by game, and see if I can come out as the winner.”

The 2024 Bahrain Darts Masters was the first stop on this year’s World Series of Darts calendar.

BIC and CBX teamed up with the PDC, and in partnership with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, to bring the World Series of Darts to the Kingdom for the second straight year.
