GP2 action on Friday

Twenty six of the world's most talented young drivers will be lining up on the grid for the 10th and penultimate round of the 2015 GP2 Series on November 20-21 in support of the FIA WEC Six Hours of Bahrain weekend at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

The GP2 is one of four series that will complement the headlining FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The others are the GP3 Series, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, and the MRF Challenge.

Upcoming event will mark the second time this year that GP2 has raced at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”. In April, the series held its season-opener at BIC in support of the Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

Belgian driver Stoffel Vandoorne of ART Grand Prix shared the round one honours with Indonesian Rio Haryanto of Campos Racing. Vandoorne won that weekend’s feature race, while Haryanto triumphed in the sprint race. Other four victories to his name for a total of five wins heading into Bahrain, while Haryanto has since added two more to bring his victories tally to three.

Other drivers to win this season were Briton Alex Lynn of DAMS, New Zealander Richie Stanaway of Status Grand Prix, Russian Sergey Sirotkin of Rapax, Japanese Nobuharu Matsushita of ART Grand Prix, Alexander Rossi of Racing Engineering and New Zealander Mitch Evans of Russian Time.

Four more victories are up for the taking for the remainder of the 2015 season and all past winners will once again be out for a win in Bahrain.
