BIC hosts high-octane Drag Racing

The 2025/2026 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship resumed last week at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), with plenty of high-octane action lighting up the strip at ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’.
More than 200 competitors flocked to Sakhir from across the region and beyond to compete in the second round of the season, which featured plenty of heated battles in a dozen highly competitive categories for cars and motorbikes.
Three Bahraini drag racers stepped onto the top of their respective podiums in the event, including Ali Haji in the 10.0 Index class, Mahmood Saleh in the Outlaw 4-Cylinder, and Yusuf Alzayyani in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder category; while other winners were from the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
The Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, which is sanctioned by the U.S.-based National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), is being organised and run by BIC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Bahrain Drag Racing Commission, and the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission.
Round two featured 131 participants in the cars categories and another 75 in the bikes.
Haji triumphed in the 10.0 Index class after clocking a pass of 10.014 seconds at 219.99kph in the final, where he defeated countryman Mubarak Aldoseri, who had a break out. Ali Rabeea made it an all-Bahraini podium in third place.
Saleh won the Outlaw 4-Cylinder division with a mark of 10.212s at 216.83kph to beat compatriot Ahmed Abdulrahim in the decisive elimination run. Abdulrahim had a time of 9.816s at 246.07kph.
Alzayyani took first place in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder category with a time of 4.581s at 263.70kph. Ali Alkhunaizi, also from Bahrain, finished second in 5.012s at 173.57kph.
Mohamed Idris from the UAE was the victor in the 9.0 Index class. He had a time of 9.166s at 204.94kph in the concluding elimination, narrowly beating Bahrain’s Safwan Adel, who clocked in at 9.162s at 226.02kph. Faisal Alahmed from Saudi finished third.
Kuwait’s Nasser Alganim took the win in the 8.5 Index category with a mark of 8.625s at 215.84kph in the decisive elimination. He beat fellow-Kuwaiti Ahmed Zaman, who had a time of 8.803s at 245.77kph, with their countryman Fawaz Alawadhi taking third place.
Abdulla Aloqab was another Kuwaiti to triumph. He was the top man in the Pro 29.5 V8 class, where he had a time of 5.932s at 217.29kph in the final. He beat Emirati Faisal Alshehhi, who had a time of 17.267s at 66.64kph.
Kuwait’s Ibrahim Abbas followed suit by winning the Competition 4.5 category where he defeated compatriot Mohammed Alfaras. Abbas took first in 4.516s at 242.51kph, while Alfaras was the runner-up in 4.503s at 254.24kph. Obaid Alblooshi from the UAE took third place.
Abdulwahab Bo Qammaz from Kuwait won the 8.5 Index Bikes category with a final pass of 8.502s at 252.40kph, defeating Hassan Aalwah from Saudi who had marks of 8.535s and 247.87kph. Khalid Aldossary, also from Saudi, joined them on the podium in third.
Kuwaiti Saad Jumah was also a victor, competing amongst the Outlaw Bikes participants. He clocked a time of 4.468s at 274.56kph in the last elimination round, where he beat Saudi’s Jihad Aljamal, who had a red light. Hassan Ashraf Alouh from Saudi came third.
Saudi’s Saud Harakah took first place in the 4.8 Index class with a pass of 5.126s at 223.20kph in his final. He beat Kuwaiti Hussain Taqi, who clocked a 5.525s run at 209.82kph, with Rashid Al Jehani taking third.
Khalid Aldossari from Saudi won the Street Fight Bikes 9.5 division with a time of 9.585s at 237.33kph in the title decider. Bahraini Qassim Ahmed Jaffar was the runner-up in 9.643s at 239.88kph, while Naser Alkubaisi, also from Bahrain, joined them on the podium.
Saudi’s Mishari Alturki rounded out the winners from the meeting, taking the top spot amongst the Pro Street Bikes. Alturki powered to a 4.248s mark at 290.80kph in the final, where he beat Bahraini Yusuf Ahmed. Mohammed Bourashid from Ku wa i t f i n i s h e d i n third. Following all the action, the winners were presented their respective trophies in the podium ceremonies.
The 2025/2026 calendar of the Bahrain Drag Racing Championship features five rounds. The third and fourth meetings will take place on back-to-back weekends from 6 to 9 January and 13 to 16 January, while the grand finale is set for 3 to 6 March.
