Bahrain U17 Dominates Singapore In Friendly
Bahrain’s under-17 men’s football national team posted their second straight win over Singapore in a friendly match played in the kingdom The nationals outclassed the visitors 3-0 at the Bahrain Football Association pitches in Riffa.
Striker Hussain Zuhair, who has caught the eye of senior men’s football national team head coach Dragan Talajic, continues to impress. He scored a brace, while teammate Mohammed Al Jazzaf supplied their other goal.
Al Jazzaf opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and then Zuhair added a goal apiece on either side of the break – first in the 20th minute and again in the 49th. Zuhair also scored two goals in Bahrain’s 2-0 win against Singapore in their first meeting last week.
The games are part of Bahrain’s preparations for upcoming competitions, including the AGCFF U17 Gulf Cup 2025 in Doha, Qatar, from next Saturday until October 2, and the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers in China from November 22 to 30.
Bahrain, coached by Ugo Klingor from Croatia, will compete in Group B of the Gulf Cup alongside Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq, while the Asian Cup qualifiers see them in Group A with China, Bangladesh, Brunei, Timor-Leste, and Sri Lanka. The nationals aim to secure one of seven spots for the 2026 tournament proper, scheduled in Saudi Arabia from May 7 to 24.
