Bahrain’s under-19 national handball team suffered their second straight loss at the 11th IHF Men’s Youth World Championship in Egypt, losing 36–28 to the hosts on Thursday night. The Group G clash drew 2,500 spectators to Cairo Stadium, where Egypt’s early pace and home advantage overwhelmed a Bahrain side still reeling from their narrow defeat to Japan the day before.

Trailing 19–13 at halftime, Bahrain never recovered the gap, and while they have one group match remaining, their path to the main round is now mathematically closed.

Al Showaikh Impresses Again

Despite the result, Salman Al Showaikh put in another standout performance, scoring 10 goals to follow up his double-digit effort against Japan. The left back remained Bahrain’s most effective attacking option.

Ali Abbas contributed seven goals but was twice penalised with 2-minute suspensions. Mahmood Yusuf and Mohamed Tarrada added three goals each, and Fadhel Ebrahim chipped in two.

Hosts in Control

Egypt controlled the match from the opening whistle, capitalising on turnovers and maintaining pressure with a deep rotation. Aly Hassan and Adel Eletter scored six each, as Bahrain’s defensive structure struggled to adapt. Although Bahrain converted 8 of 9 penalty shots, they had fewer clear chances in open play against Egypt’s compact 6–0 defence.

President’s Cup Path Ahead Bahrain faces South Korea tomorrow at 5:15 PM (Bahrain time) in their final Group G match of the championship. Japan’s 34–32 and Egypt’s 46–27 wins over South Korea give them 4 points each, securing main round spots. Bahrain, with 0 points after losing to Japan (30–32) and Egypt (28–36), is eliminated and will play in the President’s Cup for 17th–32nd place alongside South Korea.
