Rotary Clubs of Manama, Salmaniya and Adliya foster youth leadership programme honing leadership skills

ManamaFifty university students got an opportunity to hone their leadership skills through a range of programmes and activities including experiential learning and group–work at   the second   Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) presented by the Rotary Clubs of Bahrain.  The three-day event endorsed by the three rotary clubs in Bahrain, Manama, Salmaniya and Adliya, was targeted at university students in Bahrain and aimed to train and guide young individuals, instilling in them traits such as communication, leadership, collaboration and responsibility, through thrilling and energetic hands on activities  that transform them into future leaders of the world.

In attempts to revive and enhance the youth with attributes that embody leadership and empowerment, the RYLA was   sponsored by Tamkeen Bahrain.   The event was held under the patronage of  Tamkeen Chairman  Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa  who has been a very fundamental part of RYLA in Bahrain since its inception in 2015.

‘It is a great rewarding and fulfilling experience to see the energy of the students as they perform some of these activities with great enthusiasm,’ said RYLA 2017 Chairman Durry Attassi.

“I truly enjoy spending time with the student one on one. My personal goal is always to get to know each and every one of them as much as I can. They are really great ; they make me feel young again, and with my gray hair, it is always good to feel young again,’ he said.

RYLA was conducted by a team of counselors, committed hardworking Bahraini youth leaders who actually designed the three-day programme in the first such effort in Bahrain and the GCC. The prgoramme gave participants the opportunity to take the initiative to build on prior skills as well as to develop new skills through team building activities, strategic analysis and emotional intelligence amongst various other skills that are explored. Outstanding young university students in Bahrain between the ages 18-22 who embody the values of leadership participated in the conference held  in the NASS  hall at Applied Science University.
