Festival of imagination

Manama : Last week the children and teachers of the BSB celebrated Book Week 2016. The week was packed with exciting events, competitions and of course   lots of reading. Each morning the children arrived to school with a poem in their pocket to share with their classmates and a book under their arm. ‘Stop, Drop and Read’ could be heard across the school and the children had to stop whatever they were doing, take a seat and get truly lost in a good book. There was a Book Week Photo Booth, which proved extremely popular with everyone as the children could use props to take silly selfies against a backdrop of book pages. The Infant and Junior classes were paired up for buddy reading sessions where the older children in Years 3-6 were supporting the younger ones in their reading. Everyone enjoyed sharing their stories and making new friends.

Book Week culminated in the worldwide celebration of World Book Day on March 3. The children and teachers of the BSB dressed up as their favourite Book Character and took part in a parade where they could showcase their outfits and really get into character amongst their peers and friends. After the parade, all the children spent the day taking part in numerous activities in their classrooms. Some classes performed one-minute plays, some created pieces of art out of old books and others designed book marks. All in all, it was another hugely successful Book Week for the BSB.
