Digital transformation is key to Bahrain's competitiveness

A senior official at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said the kingdom’s private sector must strengthen its readiness for the demands of the digital economy, warning that global competitiveness is now increasingly defined by technological capability, data-driven operations and operational resilience.

Mr. Hasan Bader Kaiksow, an executive board member at the chamber, said rapid economic and technological shifts have fundamentally reshaped the benchmarks of economic competitiveness, making digital infrastructure and risk management central to modern growth strategies.

He said the ability of businesses to maintain operational flexibility has become a key pillar of economic security, particularly amid ongoing disruptions in global supply chains, the expansion of digital commerce and accelerating technological change.

“Operational resilience is today a fundamental component of economic security,”  Kaiksow said, adding that enterprises must be able to adapt quickly to evolving market conditions and external shocks.

He stressed that digital transformation is now a major driver of efficiency, faster service delivery and improved decision-making across industries. He noted that using modern technologies and data analytics helps organisations boost productivity and unlock new growth opportunities.

The chamber’s board, chaired by Nabeel Khaled Kanoo, is prioritising efforts to prepare the private sector for the digital economy. They are supporting initiatives that enhance the business environment and enable national companies to keep pace with rapid economic and technological changes, he added.

He also highlighted that the future of economic services is moving towards deeper digital integration, with smart technologies playing a greater role in improving access to services, information and economic opportunities.
