Bapco Energies has reaffirmed its role as a champion of women’s empowerment in the workplace after its women’s basketball team secured the national league title for the second consecutive season.
The energy conglomerate, which leads Bahrain’s energy transition, hosted a celebration at the Bapco Club in Awali to honour the players’ achievement in the 2024–2025 Bahrain Women’s Basketball League.
Top executives including board member and special advisor to the chairman Hadiya Fathalla, and acting group managing director Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, attended the event, highlighting the company’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being.
Sports Commitment
“Sport is a fundamental part of building a positive and engaging work environment,” said Fathalla during the event. he credited the win to the dedication of the players and the sustained backing from Bapco Energies’ leadership.
She noted that this success reflected the group’s broader strategy to enhance the physical and mental health of female staff, promote social cohesion, and provide pathways for professional women to thrive in diverse arenas, including sport.
Cultural Shift
The championship marks more than a trophy win, according to team captain Aisha Al Hadi, who praised both the coaching and administrative support behind the team.
“This back-to-back victory shows what’s possible when women are given space and support to succeed,” she said.
Bapco Energies’ approach aligns with a growing trend among progressive firms in the region that see internal sports programmes as a tool to retain talent and build a high-performance culture.
