Wizz Air, recognized as the most environmentally sustainable airline in the EMEA region, has announced a major shift in its onboard services by adopting a fully cashless payment system. Effective April 1, 2025, all in-flight purchases will only be accepted through card payments, including contactless options such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, and Google Pay.

As part of this transition, Wizz Air has expanded its payment methods to include Revolut cards, alongside VISA and Mastercard, both credit and debit. This upgrade aims to enhance passenger convenience and streamline the overall travel experience.

In collaboration with Revolut, new users signing up for Revolut will have the opportunity to earn up to €25 cashback after spending their first €5. Additionally, Revolut Pay customers can accumulate RevPoints, Revolut’s loyalty program, which can be redeemed on purchases made via Revolut Pay or Wizz Air flights. Until April 4, 2025, passengers using Revolut Pay for Wizz Air bookings will earn ten times the usual RevPoints, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

By eliminating cash transactions, Wizz Air aims to simplify and speed up onboard services, ensuring a hassle-free shopping experience for travelers. The move is also expected to enhance hygiene standards by reducing physical cash handling among crew members, contributing to a cleaner and safer travel environment.

Passengers can further ensure smooth transactions by purchasing prepaid vouchers through the Wizz Air mobile app, offering added security and eliminating potential payment complications.

To support this transition, the airline has implemented key guidelines:

A maximum spending limit of €150 per passenger for onboard purchases.

Transactions exceeding €50 will require a boarding pass for verification.

Michael Delehant, Senior Chief Commercial and Operations Officer at Wizz Air, emphasized the benefits of the cashless system, stating, "Implementing cashless payments not only streamlines our operations but also allows our crew to focus more on delivering exceptional service rather than managing cash transactions. This ultimately leads to a more efficient and enjoyable experience for our passengers."

Wizz Air remains committed to enhancing passenger convenience and ensuring a seamless travel experience through continuous innovation and service improvements.
