Pakistani football team to fight Bahraini Under-19 clubs
The KPK football team, which arrived at the Bahrain International Airport on Friday received a rousing reception from prominent community members. During their stay here till November 27, they will play a series of three matches with the Bahraini Under-19 football clubs today, and later, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Bahrain Football Association (BFA), in collaboration with the Asian Sports Union, will host the tour.
Speaking to DT News, leading community member Muhammad Khan Tanoli who welcomed the team at the airport said that he was very glad to see the wonderful arrangements made by the BFA and for that the Pakistani community was grateful to the football association. He said that it was a great opportunity for the Pakistani players to share their experience with their Bahraini counterparts and the series of people-to-people contact between Bahrain and Pakistan should continue. Bahraini teams should also visit Pakistan in future, he added.
Bahrain Sports Media Committee president and Assistant General Secretary Asian Sports Union Mohammed Qasim had told earlier that the Pakistani football team would be a welcome guest and that they were interestingly looking forward to the moment when the Pakistani players would play friendly matches with their teams.
Secretary General Malik Saad Memorial Sports Trust and Resident Editor of Daily Express, Peshawar Amjad Aziz, had also told earlier that it was the first time ever that any football team from KPK was visiting Bahrain. He had said then that football had become almost a ceased game across Pakistan and in this deplorable situation, it was not less than an achievement to prepare a football team and send that to Bahrain to play a series.
The names of the 26-memer team of the Malik Saad Sports Trust are Osama Iqbal, Khalid Khan, Muhammad Arshad, Ziaullah, Nadim Khan, Syed Salah Ud Din, Rashid Ali, Arsalan Khan, Muhammad Sohail, Usman Khan, Muhammad Umair, Muhammad Waseem, Inamullah and Muhammad Khan. The names of the officials are Said Mehmood (Chief de Mission), Nawaz Khan (Deputy Chief de Mission), Malik Ejaz (Chief Coach), Basit Kamal (Coach), Faisal Javed Assistant Coach, Farooq Hussain (Manager), Ahmed Nawaz Malaizai (Assistant Manager), Naseem Javed Mufti (Sports Officer), Rashid Javed (Media Manager) and Photographer Amjad Sadozai.
In the coming months, the Bahraini football teams are expected to visit Pakistan as well.
