Bahraini couple gets jailed for hiding terrorists
A Bahraini couple was handed down one year behind bars for sheltering seven terrorists, reported Saudi-based publication Al Riyadh newspaper.
The wife’s nephew is also implicated in the same and was sentenced by the Lower Criminal Court to three years in jail for providing food, beverages and other necessities to the wanted fugitives.
The seven men were wanted in connection with forming a terrorist cell and the couple is said to have hid them in a house they own in the area of Jid Ali despite knowing about their legal position.
The house was raided by a police squad following a secret tip-off, but only one of the wanted fugitives was nabbed.
The other six fled the scene upon the arrival of police. It’s said that the wife is one of the terrorists’ aunt and the duo made a verbal rental agreement to the house, with which she received BD300 from him. According to the report, the nephew is also at large and was held guilty in absentia. The cell was said to have aimed at targeting police officers, and trained several terrorists on how to use and construct bombs and weapons.
