The “Smile” initiative, a Bahrain Future Society for Youth initiative that provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in Bahrain, has organised an entertainment event titled “The Joy of Eid” on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.

It was sponsored by Bahrain National Holding and its subsidiaries. The event’s focus was on providing joy and happiness to the young heroes of the initiative and their families, as well as providing them with spiritual support to help them overcome the physical and emotional challenges of the disease.

It was held at the “Kids Palace” at the Atrium Mall in the Janabiya district, and many sick children and their families participated and played a variety of activities in the place. Several Bahrain National Holding Company personnel also helped organise the event and hand out gifts to the young heroes.

Mr Sabah Abdul Rahman Al Zayani, Chairman of the Future Society for Youth, stated that the “Smile” initiative is always eager to organise such events since they are essential in improving the mental health of the sick child and his family and that holding such events in public malls also contributes to spreading awareness among Bahrainis of childhood cancer.

“We appreciate Bahrain National Holding Company and its subsidiaries’ sponsorship of this event. It should be emphasised that the private sector’s support for the initiative helps in the implementation of its programmes and achievement of its objectives in assisting courageous children with cancer and their families,” according to Mr Al Zayani.

On her part, Ms. Bashayer Dhaif, Senior Corporate Communication Manager and ESG Officer, at Bahrain National Holding Company, said: “This event was part of our humanitarian initiatives for children, especially children with cancer, intending to bring joy to their hearts during Eid Al-Fitr, providing them with a comfortable and enjoyable environment, alleviating some of their sufferings, and encouraging them, along with their families, to face the disease.”
