Six arsonists sentenced to 10 yrs in jail
Six persons accused of burning a car during the Bahrain Formula 1 season in 2013 were sentenced to 10 years each behind bars.
They were found guilty by the High Criminal Court, which also sentenced a seventh accused to three years imprisonment.
It also acquitted one person due to lack of evidence.
The convicts reportedly set a scrap vehicle on fire near Zallaq, just a few kilometers away from the Bahrain International Circuit where the race was taking place.
The suspects were identified after police reviewed the traffic cameras.
Investigation revealed that the suspects used petrol and firebombs to torch the vehicle, before uploading a video online with a message that read ‘The second warning operation’.
They also left a fake bomb beside the car to distract the security forces.
Their alleged motive was to disturb the Formula 1 race and cause panic among those who came to Bahrain to watch the event.
